I; On £terest. • of pro 1 forty cI On i within i nent r« cent, t Clerk, On ilion, n a tax t to be r m on 11:On i in saiii dollar* should charuli or iri c | mad*.Clerksess^d bolder in cun the citIS-*s,lieorrilea~ in-inle»g:ie 1v- 'IV; lui' id 1as as Iof(xEOHGIA, Lowiuies County.Presentments of the Grand Jury—Superior Court,June Term, 1345.E. the Grand Jurors, sworn, chosen and se-V w looted for the county of Lowndes, make the following presentments:V e have examined the condition of our Court-house, and find it to be rather in bad condition, and would recommend some action to have it kept in a more cleanly situation.We have also examined the condition of our Jail, and find it to he in a very unsafe condition, and would recommend good and sufficient repairs.We have examined the Clerk’s Books of oar Superior and Inferior Courts, and find them kept in good order.We have hod under our consideration the situation of the public roads of our county, and would especially recommend the Inferior Couit to have them placed in a good condition as early as possible.W- have had under Consideration, and have thoroughly examined, the books of our Countv Treasurer, and find them to he neaiiv and accurately kept.We have also had under consideration the books and papers of tlie Treasurer of the Poor School Fund of said county, and find that the notes are not taken in accordance w ith tiie rules and regulations laid down -v !fbv the Board of Trustees, and/would specially recommend a strict compliance wifn those rules and regulations ; and furthermore, wpuld recommend a speedy renewal or cill^ction of snWd notes: and we special!} recommend further, a co:AcTTTft^*4i«®ui]]ir.ient amount to settle all the accountWe further recomrne/d our Inferior Court to levy a tax for county purposes!In taking leave of hil Honor Judge Cole, the Grand Jury tender to him tfieir thanks for the prompt discharge of the duties Kf his office, and the courtesy he has extended to this/body during the present term of this Court; and also to the Solicitor General for his courtesy and prompt attention to business during this term.And before closing our duties, wc would earnestly recommend to our citi/eus generally, and more especially to the persons who may represent this county in the General Assembly of the State, to use their endea- | vors at the approaching election for u Judge of this Circuit, to continue in office the individual who now fills, and has for some time filled the oince. During the whole period of his services, his administiatien has been distinguished by the most eminent legal abilities, and a stern and impartial desire to execute the laws without fear or favor.
