June 34, 1345 24 2t !w- IGEORGIA, Lowiuies County.t(Presentments of the Grand Jury—Superior Court, 0f«noCtian.sic,orrCSI11June Term, 1845.WM/ E, the Grand Jurors, sworn, rhosen and se-V V lected for the county of Lowndes, make the w following presentments:V* e have examined the condition of our Court-house, and find it to he rather in bad condition, and would recommend some action ro have it kept in a more cleanly situation.We have also examined the condition of our Jail, and lind it to he in a very unsafe condition, and would “ recommend good and sufficient repairs.We have examined the Clerk’s Books of oar Superior and Inferior Courts, and find them kept in good -I order. .wW e have had under our consideration the situation , of the public roads of our county, and would especially recommend the Inferior Couit to have them placed in J a good condition as eariv as possible.VV- have had under Consideration, and have thoroughly examined, the books of our Countv Treasurer, and find them to he neatly and accurately kept. ^'V o have also had under consideration the books and . papers of the Treasurer of the Poor School Fund of said county, arid find that thu notes are not taken in j accordance w ith tiie rules and regulations laid down °I by the Board of Trustees, and/would specially recommend a strict compliance wiin those rules and regulations; and furthermore, wptild recommend a speedy renewal or rollqejion of sartd notes: and we speciall} recommend further, a col^cTiTtTr^iNia^affie.ierit amount to settle all the accountant at are yet unpaiWe further recommend our Inferior Court to levy a I tax for county purposed! j .; Iu taking leave of flip Honor Judge Cole, the Grand Jury tender to him tneir thanks for the prompt discharge of the duties Inf his office, and the courtesy he t has extended to this/body during the present term of this Court; and also to the Solicitor General for his' courtesy and prompt attention to business during this term. j !And before closing our duties, we would earnestly rccmmend to our citizens generally, and more espe-' ciallv to the persons who may represent this county in ! . the General Assembly of the State, to use their endea- | vors at the approaching election for a Judge of this Circuit, to continue in office the individual who now fills, and has for some time filled the oince. During . the whole period of his services, his administianim has been distinguished hv the most eminent legal abili-ties, and a stern and impartial desire to execute the ,, laws without fear or favor.
