Story on page two.Illinois River restaurant sold□ Kampsville man buys Naples BoatelJournal Courier reportNAPLES—The Naples Boatel, a well-known restaurant overlooking the Illinois River, has been sold to a Kampsville restaurateur who will reopen it sometime next month.Louie Hazelwood purchased the Boatel June 14 from William Saylor of Naples and Richard Spoley and Andy Penska, both of New Jersey, who had owned the business since 1977.Mr. Hazelwood, who also owns and operates the Kampsville Inn, a hotel, restaurant and bar at Kampsville, said he had been negotiating to buy the Boatel for the last three months. The new ownesaid he hopes to have the restaurant back m operation by July 10.Mr. Hazelwood said there was a lot of cleaning and remodeling to be done at the Boatel and that the new menu would be similar to the one offered at the Kampsville Inn. “We’ll have catfish, chicken and steak, stir fry chicken, Cajun catfish and Cajun chicken,” Mr. Hazelwood said. He added that there would be dinner specials Tuesday through Friday.The Boatel will also provide gasoline for boaters on the Illinois River, Mr. Hazelwood said.The restaurant will be closed on Mondays and will take reservations Tuesday through Thursday, but not on weekends, he said. The kitchen will be open from 4-9 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 11 a.m. to9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The bar will be open from 4 p.m. until close Tuesday through Friday and 11 a.m. until close on Saturday and Sunday.The Naples Boatel was built in 19S9 by the late Paul Vannier, former editor and nub-lisher of the Bluffs Times and Meredosia Budget.I»
