Racing Pigeon Found Floundering On LakeCLEVELAND (AP) — Some-where a racing pigeon fancier is wondering what happened to old “AU64 BUFF—8698-071. * ’The bird with AU64 etc. on its leg bands didn’t make it across Lake Erie, but a sailing party spotted the pigeon floundering in the water and rescued it.Talbot Harding of Cleveland, owner of the sailboat, said the pigeon was eight miles offshore. When he circled to rescue the bird it flopped exhausted into I the boat. He thinks the bird washeaded for Buffalo.Harding bought some racingpigeon feed and reported Monday that AU64 was eating heartily. When the bird recovers its strength, Harding will release it.
