STUDENTS FINE THESPIANSInterpret Two Plays atHouse in Clever MannerOperaGIVE NATURALSMOOTH SHOWPerlorming their assignments without a hitch and with their lines learned perfectly, niemhers of the NorthSide graduating class w ho appeared in the cast of two playlets at the Opera Jloose on Tuesday evening gave the large audience a delightful treat. There is always great interest in a home talent phiy and with Mr. Taite as an ahle instructor the plays moved with precision and smoothness that was astonishing considering ho a little experience the students had in the art of acting. The house was tilled and the students will realize a neat sum as a rest:11.Tlie Land of Heart's Desire’’ the lirst of the two skits to be played was a brief little fantasy wovenalxuil the superstition of country folk in Ireland in which the daughter of the peasants is bewitched by a sprite and finally sueeumlw to the temptations held forth for a home on the clouds w here Uiere are no sharp longues or ot her disci m forts. The con n t rv priest portrayed by Edward Healy in clever manner endeavored by the right of his authority together with the parents to dissipate the illusions of the daughter in the person of Marie A. Mi.ler but in-vain. The latter assumed her part in a way that showed training and natural ability her acting being one of the features.The sprite, or child-fairy, Loren a Ie Lano had a dilTicult role but she was equal to her ta^k dancing the dance of the fairies in a manner to win her applause and assuming the part with grace. Her pretty child's make-up made her work all the more effective. Perhaps as good a personation of the part of an old ruan and a dilinealion of the character as has ever been seen In the city for an amateur, was given by Walter Pitz In the role of the peasant father while.a capable shrew of terrible mien was his wife in the person of Charlotte Markham. Edward 0*11 earn though in the minor part of the son, rounded out the whole in an ingenious manner.
