THE CLASS OF '88.. lt;‘ The Commencement Exercises of the Freeport High School.The Hall Crowded to Its Utmost Oapaoity With the Relatives and Friends of the Graduates-THE CLASS OF ’88 A CREDIT TO OURman school system, and theirABLE INBTRUCTORS—DU. JENKINS 'PRESENTED THE DIPLOMAS.To say that the Opera House was crowded last night to wjtneas the 20th 1 annual commencement of the Free- ' port High .School, does not express the whole truth; it was jammed. Many 1 could not get in. At precisely 8 o’clock the curtain rolled up and pro- . sauted a beautiful scene. There were seated upon the stage twelve young i people, ten girls and two hoys—the ' graduates of the class of'’88, who were ! about to disband, and also to deliver their carefully prepared orations or 1 essays With the usual inter- : Bperalng of music, the entire time 1 consumed, including the presentation of diplomas, was two hours and fifteen minutes. The class was composed of some of our brightest girls and smartest boys. In front of and a little to*oithor side of the stage snt four I pretty little girls, clad in white, who were to officiate aa dower girls. They were Vernie Snyder, Mamie llemiey, Marnio Tobias and Viva Loveland. The Board of Education and the teachers of the Iligh .School occupied seats upon the stage just back of the graduates.The members of the class were Eva For ter, Margaret Niernan, Agnes Hugo, Nellie Best, Alma Duth, Anna Kueli-ner, Trade Kautenberger, JSdith He- | vore, Jennie Upp, Jennie ILuenkemoler, Alpheus Goddard and Waldo Snyder. ,After tlio rendition of a beautiful : selection by Germania Band, and ; the Invocation by Ilov. W. B. ; Irwin, Miss Eva Porter, the sal- : utatorian, was the first to appear, and | won great praise for herself in the lt;manner in which she delivered the salutatory.
