Ball at Burnie on July 25 of Graeme Bell and his Australian Jaxz Band of eight pci formers.It will be the first visit of the orchestra to the N.W. Coast, and the only appearance in Tasmania outside Hobart.The fee is the highest ever offered to a dance orchestra for an apoearance in Tasmania.The orchestra, which will be under the management of Mr. Mel. E. Langdon. will leave Australia In October on a second world tour, with appearances in England, the Continent, and North Africa. In 1947 the orchestra visited London, Paris, Prague. Brussels, Amsterdam and Ceylon. Broadcasts have been made for the BJB.C.. Prague Radio. Brussels Radio, S.E.A.C., A.B.C., and Macquarie Network, and recordings for Australian, Czechoslovakian, French and English companies.Members of the band include Graeme Bell, leader; Adrian Mons-bough, trumpeter, clarinetist and saxophinist; Norman Baker, guitarist and banjoist.The Burnie R.S.L. believes the orchestra will attract a record attendance for the N.W. Coast to the ball.
