' ,Guest-room beds are Cattfor-nia-king sized — extra-large kingsized, that is.“We wanted the guests to be comfortable,” Sardinia said.That probably also explains the color television and private bathroom for each bedroom.It’s all for the guests ...... Including the theater, with 10 cushy, white leather lounge chairs and footstools.... And the outside decks, with a small pool, hot tub jind tall potted plants and trees.Sardinia, 55, says he is a businessman dealing in “fasteners, like screws and things imported from Europe.”He refused to say bow much he spent to transform a dilapidated old barge-like vessel into a modern home, but he did admit to $150,000 spent redoing the boat’s bottom.Mrs. Sardinia, 30, giggled like a teen with a new car when she said, “It was quite the shopping trip in New York” to buy the crystal chandeliers.The ferry, originally catted the Philadelphia, and then the Newport News, was bpught by the Virginia Highway Commission in 1943 to carry cars.Sardinia purchased the boat after seeing an ad in the Wall Street JournalIts interior has 20,000 square feet of space, plus an upper deck that has 4,000 feet inside and about another 4,000 feet outside.Sardinia said he designed the rooms bimself, without the helpbathroom.The couple’s bathrooms, located on each side of a plush vanilla-colored master bedroom, are a sight in themselves.Hers has an oid-fashioned white tub with gold fixtures and is backed by a huge stained-glass hanging of brightly colored tropical birds. 7His, done in gray, black^nd burgundy, sports a jacuzzi, launa and steamroom.
