Ted Goodwin, now a resident of Santa Cruz, California, wrote Right From The Heart, a religious column that appeared weekly in the Chehalis Advocate for many years during the 1930's and 40's. Since many readers will remember this popular feature, he was asked to write the column below as a feature for the Chehalis First Christian Church, which wilt celebrated 75th anniversary bn Sunday, June 23, 1974. Mr. Goodwin was pastor of the church in 1923-24 and later held pastorates at Ryderwood, Forest, Castle Rock and other Southwest Washington churches. He made his home in Oiehalis for many years.RIGHT FROM THE HEARTBy Ted GoodwinTHE CHURCH IS OUR MOTHERThese past fifty-five years ministry in the church have done something for me. They have convinced me by the evidence of truth and reality through experience. Facts are hard to destroy. Here are some of the facts: 1. The church has a benevolent influence for humanity. The church exalts kindness, mercy, compassion, right thinking, truth. God is our Father and the church is our mother.God put the church in the world and it is here to stay. Men build institutions with high sounding titles and spectacular walls, but they will fall under the onslaught of time. Only the church will stand the test of earthquake, fire, flood and hurricane. It will stand when the last star has burned down in its socket and gone out.
