The surgical nurse who assisted in the operation, is thewoman who became Rosie’swife. “And I've been taking careof him ever since,” she said.Both of the Griers are enthusiastic about needlepoint.“Rosie learned to do needlepoint because he's afraid to fly,”explained his wife, (It’s difficult to imagine Rosie Grier being afraid of anything). “Now his needlepoint design demandssuch concentration, lie works at if during a plane trip and it doesn’t bother him ” She added that Rosie loses interest once the design is finished and turns it over to her for completing the background.* Like NeedlepointWho would dare suggest that needlepoint might he; a sissy craft when an athlete the size of Rosie Grier finds it relaxing.
