Singer in Philadelphia on June 19FOR THE CLMBERLAND TIMES'-NEVSCUMBERLAND — Dane Neal Cox. son of Randy Cox and Cumberland native Shelly Crowe Cox. is well on his way .to becoming one of tomorrow’s finest tenors.His most recent singing engagement was in Haverford, Pa . where he wun first place in the Nelly Berman School of Music’s Classical Virtuosos ot Ibmoi row competition. Winning gold in the collegiate voice division allows him to perfoi m on June 19 at the Kimmel Center, the epicenter for the pertorming arts in Philadelphia.Cox is a 2009 graduate of the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, where hereceived the Cairns Scholarship and the 2009 School of Music Vocal Performance Award. He won the Reading Choral Society’s Young Artist competition for two consecutive years in 2007 and 2008.Last year. Cox was Dane neal cox asked to open for international pop star Sting at the 153rd anniversary7 of the Academy of Music in Philadelphia.Aside from singing and spending time with his family, he loves to draw, paint, plav the piano, travel and instruct karate classes. Since the death of his father in April 2000 and mother in August 2009, both due to motorcycle accidents, Cox has been granted guardianship of his 13-vear-old brother. Gabriel.
