Johnson will be the site of the company’s fourth annual summer opera workshop, beginning June 21, under the direction of Barbara Owens, founder of the Vermont Opera Theatre.This year the program has been expanded to include a vocal workshop, which alsobegins June 21 with instruction by soprano Nan Nall. Ms. Nall will also appear this summer as guest soloist with the Vermont Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Efrain Guigui. In addition, she will give a recital for the Summer Music Associates of New London, New Hampshire.The opera workshop will culminate in a performance on July 23 in Johnson’s Dibden Auditorium of selected scenes from opera. Nancy Crump, LCA’s residert weaver, will teuch a course in tapestry and rug weaving beginning Saturday, June 19. The class will meet twice a week on Saturday afternoons and Wednesday mornings and will run through July.Joanna K. Stone, LCA’s resident silversmith, will offer a course in silverworking on Monday and Wednesdayevenings starting June 14. A few openings are available in these classes and interested students should contact LCA.LCA’s regular summer session begins July 12 and will offer day and evening classes in pottery, photography, reed basketry and jewelry casting. She has conducted opera workshops in this country, in South America, and in Europe, and has held several prestigious grants, among them the Fulbright, for the study of theater abroad. In addition, she has served as a member of the Board of Judges for the Metropolitan Opera Regional Auditions.Nan Nall, associate director of the Vermont Opera Theatre, has performed throughout the Middle Elast, Asia, Europe,New Zealand, South America, and the United States.
