GRAVITY STEEPLECHASE.A gravity steeplechase will be one of the novelties at Revere beach this summer. It has been very popular at Coney Island, and is Bald to combine the fun of the merry-go-round, the excitement of the chutes, and adds to both the charm and zeet of a genuine race, besides being absolutely safe. It is being erected under the personal supervision of Mr Wm. H. Bryant, general manager of the company.The gravity steeplechase cdurse is 32 feet wide, and the construction of the roadbed is of wood, built in such a manner as to form hurdles and dips. On this formation is erected a system of steel rails running parallel, and carrying the weight, of the horse directly beneath its body, while guide rails for the feet make It Impossible for the horse to leave the rail.The horses weigh 500 pounds each. The rrdcks being parallel and the starting and finishing points adjacent, a horse is started on each rail at the same time. The horse, to a certain extent, is under the control of Its rider, who can accelerate or diminish Its speed by the manner In which he handles it on the ascending and descending grade.Besides the steeplechase race course the management has added as special features the followingnovelties: Third Degree Regions,” “floating Venus, cave of the winds, funny stairway, top-sv turvey flat, blow gun, earthquake floor, aerial slide, delusion mirror, Bkat-ing slide, puzzle passage, emperor seat, spring fountain, seat of wisdom, human pump, peculiar clock and an ice creamgrotto.
