mpanyHas Biggest PayrollThe White Stag Manufacturing Company has made a vital contribution to the economy erf this area since the garment factory was first located here in 1953.■ . At that time the plant was owned by the Patterson Mfg. Company and the line was devoted entirely to overalls.In 1955 Ralph Hodges and H.A. Rich of Muskogee bought out all other interests, changed the name to Checotah Mfg. Company and branched out in the making of ladies sportswear. By 1957 the ' company was contracting work for White Stag, makers of beautiful ladies and girls sportswear. 1Since its location here the company has steadily increased its .payroll greatly benefiting the economic welfare erf this community. .; •The Checotah plant produces from 12,000 to 15,000 garments each week’ and employs approximately 140 persons.In 1970 the Checotah plant was purchased by White Stag, an equal opportunity employer, and Guy Taylor was sent here from North Carolina .to manage theChecotah operation. He Is assisted by Johnny Moore, plant foreman.Mr. Traylor was with another firm in North Carolina for four years before becoming associated with White Stag. Previously he managed a garment plant in Pennsylvania* He is a member of the Lions Club and the Chamber of Commerce. Mr. and Mrs. Traylor are members of the Church of Christ and make their • home at 701 S.W. Third Street.Except for supervisory positions all personel has been locally trained and only residents of this area have been hired.
