Awards Presented at CommencementFOLSOM — At the 23rd com-1 qualities of dependability, leader* mencement exercises at Ridley ship, patriotism and service wentTownship High School, seniors were recipients of a number of awards which were presented by the principal, Ralph B. Sharer, and the assistant principal, Norman B. L. Ferguson, before 1,000 parents and friends. -A pen and pencil set was pie sented to the student in the class with die highest scholastic average, Norman Edmonson, by the Woman's Club of Ridley Town* ship. The Class of 1933 Memorial Cup presented to the boy and girl most representative in their class went to-Mary Paliadino and Donald Griffith. The S.E. Eby Cup awarded to the student with the highest scholastic standing went to Norman Edmonson. He also received ' the Readers Digest Award for one year’s subscription.The 10 members of the class wearing honor stoles for achievingto Mary Paliadino. The recognition for a national essay contest.sponsored by the International Steward’s. and Caterer’s Association, when a-Ridley Township girl placed fourth among 1400 entries was given to Carol Ann Mitchell.The Ridley Township Business Association presentation of an award to tire outstanding student in the-Business Education Department went to Martha Bollinger. The Dr, John Robert Gregg Medal for excellence in Gregg Shorthand was awarded to Pauline Strzala. The Girls Varsity Club award of a cash prize of 5100 to a girl of good athletic ability whose spirit of cooperation has furthered team play went to Bernice Dickerson. A senatorial scholarship • of $395 a year for four years to Lincoln Univcr-sity went to Robert Blake. A sim-ilar scholarship of 5350 a year forfour years went to William Maloney.The Dr. and Mrs. Larxy J. A Villa-nova University four-year, all expense scholarship went to Norbert McNulty. The Ridley Township Education Association award of a scholarship prize of $200 to a. senior who pjans to enter the, teach -ing profession went to Sonja Ach-ey. The Essington Home and School Association award of afoodsr-elofomg^and-all-of-the-re'^sriiolarship—to—an Essington-stu-lated home - economic subjects went to Christine McGuire. Commander George Lincoln of the Herbert W. Best VFW . Post 928 of Folsom presented certificates and medals to the senior boy and girl wlvo were outstanding in the class, Louis Divan and Elaine Arndt. Tlia'ddeus Matthews of the Dougherty-Magee - Mazepink VFW Post 6349 presented an award to a senior of high seholartic rank, John McNerney..The trophy award for the best all-around girl athlete, went to Trudy Plummer. Ten students receiving awards of $10 each were: Barry Richards, Jacqueline Wildcat achieving high scholastic average went to Sonja Achey.The School of Education of the University of Pennsylvania granted a four year scholarship of $SO0 a year to Ronald Jackson. An assistance in the form of remission of payment of all tuition and fees for four years was granted by tlie University of Penna. to Richard White. Temple Uni\fersity grant of a four year half-tuition open scholarship went to Walter Pepperman. He also has the choice of attending Drexel Institute of Technology, on a Board of Trustees scholarship grant, providing full tuition for the first year and half tuition the second and third years.A full NROTC . scholarship to Yale University, which will include full tuition, books and $50 a month, was granted to Norman Edmonson. Donato, superin-tendnet, with a check from the class, to be used to .purchase a■^auditorium \nthe new addition to the school.Elaine Arndt also presented to each-of tlie four-class sponsors,-Mirs Catherine Eni, Mrs. Martha Burke, Edward Peters and Marion Cuppy, a portable television set.. Kirk Rummel, editor of tlie 1957 Archive which was dedicated to the parents of the seniors, presented the . hook to his parents on behalf of the students to all their parents.
