Millbrook Orchestra to hold Spring Gala4The Millbrook Orchestra invites the general public to attend its annual Spring Gala, a benefit buffet to support the region’s orchestra Sunday, June 9, from 5-7 p.m. at Tackley Farm located between Bardane and Kearneysville, W.Va., on Route 9.Tackley, the 77-acre farm owned by Mr. and Mrs. Roger W. Forsythe since 1973, was named for the couple’s favorite English country village when they were stationed in England. Because both Mr. and Mrs. Forsythe are natives of Jefferson County, they looked forward to owning a farm in the county when Mr. Forsythe retired from government service. The farm house, constructed with brides made on the property, was built between 1844 and 1849. Two additions have been made to thehouse which features 12 rooms and■seven fireplaces. The farm is part of an original grant from Lord Fairfax to Colonel Burnham in 1752.This year’s Millbrook Orchestra Gala will be highlighted by a catered buffet with beverages and a Millbrook Orchestra musical trio. The three orchestra members who will comprise the trio are donating their time lt;and talents to enhance the pleasure of the afternoon at Tackley.Gala chairman Paul Saab asks that those who wish to attend the June 9gala please make reservations by calling the Millbrook Orchestra.Office, (304) 876-3773.
