BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICAA special call came from Ashland,Ky., on the 24th day of May, 1930,for members of the Boy Scouts, class 11* 11-12-13 to come to Ashland on the 25th at one o’clock p. m., for the purpose of paying their last respects and acting as pal bearers for their departed member. Scout Wendell Cox, a hurried call was made and the question was asked, who were the members, the original list being destroyed in the fire in 1917. Scout Master Ben F. Thompson was called and several members got together and made up the followinglist:Charles Wilson, Patrol leader Troupe No. 1; Clyde Evans, Patrol leader of Troupe No. 2; Harry Sandige, C. F. Roberts, Val Evans, Edward Jordan, /Roy Wallace, Paul Hanlon, Dock Maddix. Paul Counts, James Buckler, Elbert Kees, Marvin Ruley, Earl James, George Phillips. Earl McMur-rey. Frank Woods, Willie White, Raymond McMurray, Clay Fultz, Russell Fultz, Curtis Fultz, Edmond Henderson, Lon Crawford, Lloyd Rice, Roy Rice, Russell Spurlock, Leonard Cunningham, Willard Shumate, Wendell Cox, Bill Phillips, Charles Blizzard, James Pettus, and there may be others but we do not recall them.The following were active pall bearers: Edward Jordan, FrankWoods, Paul Hanlon. Roy Wallace, Honorary pall hearers, Ben F. Thompson and Val Evans.Several other Scouts as above listed have reported to the Supreme Headquarters. We can say of Scout Wendell Cox that he was always loyal and obeyed the Scout laws, and his early asociations \:tb this movement was made a pai t of his life and the principles were carried out until the end. Loyal to God, loyal to his country and loyal to his fellow-man. he was beloved by all who knew him. the large attendance at his services and the floral offerings attested to the large circle of relatives and friends throughout Eastern Ken-1 tucky.
