Gymnastic Union, will be held at Holstein, Iowa. June 8, 9 ami 10. This tournament will be the eighteenth held by the union and promises to be the best. The contests will be for prizes and will include all of the various forms of gymnastic work by men and women, and mental work and sing- I ing. The visitors to Holstein will be entertained in fine style, social sessions, a grand parade of Turners and local civic societies, a ball and many other affairs having been arranged for their amusement. Burlington will be represented by a large delegation, especially on Sunday. The active Turn- I ers who are going up after some of the prizes are: Julius Lion, Joe Lambert, I John Lion, Henry Gruujes, Jr., Clyde I Weingarten and William Boase. They I have been chosen as the most expert of the members of the Burlington I Tum-Gcmeinde and those who know their ability are predicting that they will bring back with them a goodly share of the prizes. Mr. Schliep, of Mt. Pleasant, a gentleman well known in Burlington, will officiate as judge at the tournament. The local delegation will depart for Holstein Friday night. ITurn Genielnde Meeting. IThe Burlington Tum-Gemeinde held their regular monthly meeting at the Turner gymnasium last evening. The secretary read a complete report of the Jahrmarkt which resulted in a greater financial success for the society than Ihad been anticipated. A vote of I thanks was extended to all business men and others who contributed so generously to the Turner Jahrmarkt fund. It was also decided to send a I class of eight active Turners to represent Burlington at the bi-annual district tournament to be held at Holstein, Iowa, for three days, from June b to 10. A committee was appointed to make the final arrangements for an excursion and basket picnic to be given Sunday, June 16.
