ItThe world's first bicycle, built nearly 100 years ago in France, i in possession of Mrs, Estelle Cardinet of Hayward, daughter of the Alexander Lelebvxe who tsoiM p strueted it at Saint Denis, France, in 1843.The eyelo, still in good condition, is built of wood and iron. The -wheels are almost as large as-small wagon wheels, with wooden; spokes and Btrlp-iroh ^,t^res7, The seat, hinged in front, jre3ts on a coii spring for comfortable riding, and. the handlebars resemble the p handle of a modern lawnmow.er.! jj The motive power lor .the cycle la | ^ secured by a “walking-arm” attachment between the -pedals and the huh' of the rear wheel.lt;Mra.
