Burd, 3n, wife of Sylvester Burd, ' f?°. a wealthy real estate dealer, has succeeded, according to the state-j ment. of her husband.Burd says that since the death. 30 years ago, of a little daughter by his first wife, he has been investigating | spiritualism and is now convinced1 that communication can be establishedi with the spirit world. He says hehas taken courses in two colleges andhas attended all of the best lectures in the country.Burd declares that for 11 years his I wife invited messages from spirits.; Thre© months ago, she first heard j from them.j A pencil was placed in her hand and she sat ready to write. When the spirits finally possessed her, he says lifs wife s hand moved violently over 1 the paper. The marks were unintelligible but as time passed they formed themselves into letters.As soon as Mrs. Burd comes under complete control of the spirits, her husband says, she will not usepencil and paper but transmit their messages orally.During the three months that Mrs. Burd has been in communication with the spirit world, the husband says, his wife has talked with 1.600 persons, many of whom were strangers.Some were old residents of Massillon, who had been dead many years.One spirit that came, Burd says, was that of a former eccentric resident of Massillon, who was called Cheese Frits.
