Kay Kyser Engaged ForFrolic At WrightsvilleWilmington, June 2 -—Plans are being completed by the BlackHawk cotillion club here for their• •first annual June frolic to be held* ' ' ■ ' . • •at- Wrightsville; Beach on . the higlVt of June 7, when Kay Kyser and his world famous orchestra**! v • •will be presented.Feature of the frolic will be a• i , a •• ,f . • » ,grand march, led by members of the club and sponsoring young la-'dies from throughout this and ad-%joining states; There will be no concert, and dancing will start promptly at 9 p. m.With the Kyser organization,recently voted one of the 10 best1 ’» ■ •. . , .orchestras in the country in national poll, is Miss Virginia Sims, famed vocalist, and the Kyser glee club, Sully Mason, Harry Babbitt and Ish Kabibble.Kyser’s orchestra holds an all-time record for one-night engagements, having played to over 8,000 at the Modernistic ball room in Milwaukee. He is especially popular with college students/“Thinking of You,” composed in1926, was the first number played by the orchestra,, and has since*4 *• »been used as its theme song, 4 barsbeing played before each chox*usof other tunes. Announcement oil selections is done away with, the song titles being sung.
