Judge J.C. Karel Speaks ]Guest of the Botarluns At Meeting Held Here Monday Evening. Speaks On Boys and GirlsJudge John C. Karel of Milwaukee spoke before the members of the Ro-tary ;Club and their Invited guests at a special meeting of that organization held at the Hotel Union on Monday evening. Plates' were set for 120, 1 there being about twenty of the- business men and personal friends of Judge Karel in attendance from Kewaunee.On the opening of the meeting President Spalsbury of the Rotary Club introduced as the first speaker of the evening, Attorney William Zimmers, who spoke on Rotaryism and gave an interesting talk on the people and the conditions as he found them in. South America, where he spent three mouths.Judge Karel was next introduced and after a brief review of the his-ory of Rotary spoke on “What Can Be Done for the Boys and Girls of Sturgeon Bay.” * . /•' He told of what was being, done In Milwaukee and other places in the state and while- realized that things could not be performed here on as large a scale, felt'that much could be done for the bettering of conditions. There are four elements entering into this problem—the home, the school, the church and the community. He particularly laid stress oh the necessity of 3 proper religious training and having the children attend church, it J being found in the Juvenile court over which he presides that few of the de* llnquents attended Sunday school. He eulogized the work of the teachers of the schools and urged a closer supervision of the responsibility of the parents. He recommended interesting the boys and girls in clean out-door athletic sports under proper supervision, we having an abundant natural advantages for.the carrying’ out ' of this program. •Judge Karel called attention, at the close his remarks to the fact that this, the 29th day of May, was the 74th anniversary of the admittance of the state to the union and paid a glowing tribute to the state and allegiance to the flag, to which he asked his audience to renew allegiance and reference on this occasion-.It was a very interesting. Inspiringand- helpful message that he brought and was thoroughly enjoyed by all whp had the pleasure of hearing him.Judge Karel spoke to. the students of the high school during the afternoon. . ,
