BLIND TIGERS RAIDEDSATURDAY AFTERNOONiSheriffs Deputies Size Great]Quantities of BoozeiChief Deputy Sheriff John W. Sparks and about a dozen other deputies, raided the blind tigers I co Saturday afternoon, six places, wjwere seized, simultaneously, and jthe drays hauled beer and j grwhiskey from the tigers until a lmidnight. I toAt John Leigeber’s store,! hG several bottles of whiskey were j pa found, at his residence there j was a regular bar outfit, tixtuies i and all, here the deputies found I co two barrels of whiskey, partial- j atl ly, full; 100 pints, a lot of quarts j ev and several jugs of whiskey; several casks of beer were found J pjhere, also. The value of the whiskey and beer seized at j Leigeber’s residence is estimated at $500. Leigeber became greatly excited, while the raidwas in progress, and threatenedto raise a mob to dispose of thedeputy sheriffs- Solicitor S- J.Griffin quited him down.At Joe Baier’s some full casksof beer, a number of emptycasks and piece of casks ol whisKey were found.arMixonin the oldArndt building, three and one half casks of beer and elevenempty casks wrere found.At Jesse Brown’s three fullcasks of beer and a basket olbeer 011 ice was found.The largest haul was made atWill Scheuing’s saloon, heretwenty casks of beer, 11 quaitsmfrwai0111Lnof whiskey,75pints and hallon ice,pints of whiskey and a barrel ofwhiskey were found. Also, a poker table and 190 poker chips-At G. Baader’s four or ti\ecasks of beer, two c were found. Ninety-three bottles of whiskey, various sizes,were found.Most of the proprietors of theplaces raided are old offenders,some of them are under numerous indictments, some are under injunction, some under suspended sentences to the penetentiaiy.The people, both prohibitionists and local optionists, as a rule, endorse these raids andthe putting out of business olmen who ran open saloons and defied all the officers of the law.To Deputy Sheriff WalterRagsdale, of Good Hope, belongs the honor of swearing out thewarrants.sVf(Vafa1Iit1lt;I
