The Rush County Bicentennial Committee was established this past spring .when the Rush County Commissioners appointed the members. Glen Friend, Bison, is the Chairman of the Committee. Other members of the committee are: Ivan Wortben, Terry Scheuerman, Carolyn Thompson, Bud Scbrott, Mrs. Paul Bowman, Reuben Romesier, C. Alois Urban, Mrs. Anne Herrman, Elva Paustian, Roy Ehly and C. A. Smith.The Chairman of the Bicentennial Committee said that he had been notified that Rush County received approval of a $5,000 grant application through the Kansas American Revolution Bicentennial Commission. The office stated the grant application was submitted to the National Administration immediately for final approval.Mr, Friend also stated that he received another letter stating that Rush County has been designated as a national Bicentennial Community and that we are going to receive a flag designating the county as such.
