Bio mdah IPackwood to present barbecue, dance, playwCi01tcPACKWOOD — The 22nd annual beef barbecue at La Wis Wis picnic and campground will be this Sunday from noon until 4 o’clock in the afternoon.Eight hundred pounds of steer beef will be placed into the.barbecue pit at G a.m. Sunday for an anticipated 800 guests.Dave Buntting, barbecue co-chairman with Gloria Mitchell, said the annual event is co-sponsored by the Packwood Improvement Club and Paekwoood Volunteer Fire Department. Gary Carver _is president of the Improvement Club and Bud Panco is the fire chief.Serving of the barbecued beef, dinner will start at .noon. and. wilLl include beef, corn on the cobj potatoes and salad.'' Other events scheduled this weekend include a dance at UieCommunity Hall Friday night from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.; a play, Love Rides the Rails,” at 8:30 p.m., Saturday and Sunday nights at the Community Hall, and an Arts and Crafts Show, all day Saturday and Sunday on’Main Street and Haynes Avenue.Buntting said Johnny Mullins and Ed Music, who recently made their first recording, will play at the dance. June Rowland, director of the Cowlitz Curtain Callers, .will present the melodrama.The public is invited to participate .in the weekend events.
