Packwood festivitiesinclude beef barbecuePACKVNOOD — This lively mountain community is preparing for a big K**?, starting Friday night, highlighted by Packwood’s 23rd annual Sunday beef barbecue.i'r.^a?.ce katur*Bg Johnny Mullins and Eddie Music will be held Friday night at the Community Hall.Saturday, an art show, arranged by Bob Sigl, and a little theatre production directed by June Rowland will be featured.. The Merry Mountaineers, the Pack-wood area senior citizens* club, will build a croquet course on the community hall grounds.The Packwood Fire Department and auxiliary, and the Packwood Improvement Club. share responsibility forfor La Wis Wis Campground, will go on all day Sunday. The fires are lit Salur-d ay night using alder wood fuel.The first of the anticipated 550 pounds of beef will be put on at 6 a.m. Sunday by cooks Dale Tapscotl, Bob Mustain, Harold Haynes, Al Tumlison and Ray Blankenship,Included on the menu are fresh corn on the cob, greer. beans cooked with bacon and seasonings, potatoes, cole slaw and bread and butter. Homemade cakes donated by women of Packwood will be served for dessert.Proceeds from the event have averaged around $1,000. They will be split equally between the fire department for new equipment, and the Improvement Club, for community oroiects.
