Hiles, 88, formerly of Orbisonia, went to be with the Lord at 1:18 p.m. Monday, July 27, 2009, at the Woodland Retirement Community, Orbisonia.Born Oct. 22, 1920, inOrbisonia, she was a daughter of the late Elmer D. and Anna Mae (Bucher) Schmittle. She was married to H. Duane Hiles, who preceded in death July 5, 1995*Mrs. Hiles is survived by three children, Brenda Gracey and husband, Donnie, Shippens-burg; Nin D. Hiles Sr. and wife, Bonnie, Orbisonia; and Beth Creswell and husband, Randy, Cassville; seven grandchildren, Pamela Albert, Jon Gracey, Nin Hiles Jr., Michael Hiles, Jessica Miller, Kristin Bangs and Cassie Creswell; and four great-grandchildren, Keegan Albert, Haley Gracey, Erin Gracey and Nathan Gracey.She is also survived by a brother, Karl Schmittle and wife, Lucille, York.She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Georgia LynnHiles; and a brother, Boyd Schmittle.Mrs. Hiles was a member of the Orbisonia United Methodist Church, where she began serving as organist and pianist at the age of 14 until she was in her 70s.She also played the piano in the Allen Snair Dance Band in the 1940s through the early 1950s. During her life, Mrs. Hiles was a homemaker and also gave adult and child piano lessons for many years.Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 30, at the Orbisonia United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ed Seely officiating. Interment will be made in the Orbisonia Cemetery.Friends may call at the church from 11 a.m. until the hour of services Thursday.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Orbisonia United Methodist Church, Orbisonia, PA 17243; or to Home Nursing Agency Hospice, 900 Bryan St., Suite 7, Huntingdon, PA 16652.
