Mrs. (.'on 11 had attained the age of eighty* four yearn and retained a remarkable vigor up to a few week* ago. when she accidentally fell from a chair and auiTered a fracture of two rilw. .She never rallied from the shock and her decline wan gradual until, finally, she was numbered among the long ar* ray of early settlers, who have answered to the inevitable inarch of time. Mrs. Conn was a noble woman and enjoyed the friendship and acquaintances of residents of every part of the town and county. The scope of her acquaintance was, unquestionably, wider than that of any other woman and her knowledge of the history or Van Wei t county was not surpassed anywhere. She lived a long and busy life and her memory will bo forever cherished. Mrs. Conn was formerly Catharine Slater and she was horn m Fayette county, Pennsylvania, April J, ]KU. With her parents she settled in Staik county in 1^22 and in Van Wert county in l*;$s, moving to the town of Van Wort in lKjb. She wa- a teacher in the Van Wert schools for nineteen terms. She was married to Kobert Conn, of Van Wert, on May 12, Jsi;I. One child was born to them, A. P. Conn, on February 1 H*Y4 She wasleft a widow on November lHtil, when her husband, at the early age of thirty-six years, was called away. She engaged i.i tho retail millinery business In 18CU, continuing until 181*0 and re* entering the business in 1804, and continuing until the fall of IfllO, when she retired. Since that time she had lived quiotly at the family home. Private funeral at nine o’clock, Saturday morning, to which the immediate friends and neighbors are invited. Those who wish to view the remains may do so at tho home between the hours of ten o'clock a. m. and four o’clock p. m., on Friday, thirtieth in* stant.
