St. John s Lutheran Church Mixed Bowling League held its 25th annual awards dinner recently at the Ali Ghan Shrine Club. Rev. Lee A. McDaniel gave the invocation.Vincent Shumaker, league president, extended the welcome and thanked the league officers for their support during the past season.Mr. Shumaker also gave special recognition to the six charter members and presented them with silver pen and pencil sets. They were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Davidson, Mrs. Laura Shumaker, Mrs. Mary Squires, Mrs. Alma Witt and William Gilpin. It was noted that Mrs. Shumaker had 23 years of perfect attendance and Mr. Gilpin had 21.Mr. Shumaker then presented Mrs. Sadie Koser with a silver charm in appreciation of her compiling the league newsletters and end of the season program. He also presented a wedding gift to his daughter, LuAnne, on behalf of the league.Mr. Shumaker then introduced Robert D. Cunningham, league founder, to the league members and guests. Mr. Cunningham, who now resides in Reisterstown, commended the bowlers for continuing to support the league after he left the area. Mr. Cunningham then presented a program in which five past league presidents sang “The More We Get Together.’’ Past presidents taking part in the program were Mr. Cunningham, Kenneth Koser, George Bartik, Joseph McIntosh and Vincent Shumaker. Others participating were Charles Davidson, incoming presideht, and Rev. and Mrs. Mcdaniel. Mr. Cunningham read a poem, “New Friends and Old Friends,” followed by the group singing “Thanks for the Memories.”
