Peaks Island is hardly affected by Gov Minjken’s restrictive plan that is being: applied at Old Orchard, as there are few amusement enterprises on the island for- Summer’ excursionists that do not meet with gendral approval Sundays. E. E. Rounds has discontinued motion pictures in the Majestic, and Leo F. O’Brien, manager of the Pavilion, has not run shows Sunday nights this season. Band concerts are given in Greenwood Garden, and bathing is another at-j traction, but there has been no demon*I strative Sunday amusement at Peaks Island for a number of years. Portland people go to Old Orchard in throngs every Sunday, and bathing is a leading attraction, so they will continue to go, it is presumed, whether the ban remains on amusements or not. The Cape shore is quite as popular as before Cape Cottage Casino was taken over for war purposes, and all the shore resorts are invaded Sundays by trolley and motoring parties.It is apparent that the Governor's move has not boosted his political stock around here, according to nun tarings heard with more or less frequency, and a continuance of the restrictive rule through the balance of the season will bn advertised in some manner by all
