GRID'S SUCCESSOR,*Assistant Deputy Dickinson Appointed This Morning.County Commissioners Made the Selection—Mr. Dickinson is Thoroughly Familiar with the Duties of the Office.The county commissioners this morning appointed E. Diekinson to fill theunexpired term .of the late Treasurer Geib, whose term of office would have expired in September.Mr. Dickinson is well known and is thoroughly acquainted with the various duties of the office of treasurer, havingserved in the office for a number of years in the capacity of what might be called assistant deputy.Deputy Treasurer Smith says that at this time of the year the county funds are in such a shape that it will take the auditor several weeks to get them certified to, and show what the financial condition of the county is. The result will be that the appointed treasurer cannot have control more than four weeks. The fees during that time will be light since the tax collections have been made. The Elks have announced that the couple consenting to have their marriage ceremony per-, formed on a public platform in sight of the multitude they hope will be as? sembled, will receive as a reward for their kindness, household furniture tothe amount of $100. It was announced that “the first come, first served.” It now appears that the couple has been selected and no better character could possibly have been secured than the successful contestant. It is none other than William Schlemmer, the “Divine Healer,” The identity of the lady la not yet learned, as the committee having the matter in charge is very reticent about the case and does not yet desire the information fc6 be given to the public. Schlemmer . had everywhere created a sensation by his Wonderful cures by “the laying on Of hands,” although medical men claim he makes people believe they are cured by hypnotising them. “The Divine Healer” Is decidedly up to date, wears1 a crown of laurel over a flowing black robe and rides a bicycle.
