35 years agoBusinesses need equitable taxationArizona Record editorial. .July 23. 1943:It is obvious that post-war projects to provide work for the unemployed must have adequate funds to finance them.It is also obvious that private corporations offer the best opportunity for high wages and steady employment in days after the present war is ended.Thus when business men plead for adequate corporate reserves for reconversion of industry to peacetime production, they are pleading not only for themselves but for the millions who must 1m* employed by industry when the war is over. If taxes prohibit the accumulation of adequate corporate reserves, it is not the business man who will suffer the most. It will be the people looking for jobs — jobs that only private industry can provide.The solution of this problem is equitable taxation. If private industry is penalized during the war by inequitable taxation, it will 1m* unable to do its full share in providing adequate employment after the war.THOUSANDS OK dollars will be turned into circulation in the (llobe-Miami district next week when the semi-annual distribution of dividends or rebates is made to patrons by the Miami Commercial Company and the Warrior Cooperative Mercantile Company.Date for the semi annual distribution of checks is set for July 30 by IwUh companies.While the total amount of the distribution has not been made public it is known to !m* considerable in excess of $100,000 for the two companies.TWENTY-ONE musicians are included at present in the personnel of the (ilobe municipal band which will play a weekly concert beginning at the courthouse bandstand this evening at 8 o'clock.Members of the band are: Lionel Jacobs, director: Sudie Hayes.
