Floyd Patterson, lfcOJ Stewart Ave This covered bridge (No. 06) over Sugar Tree Creek, two miles south of North Salem in Liberty Twp., is the second one erected on this site The firi,t one was built by David McCullough in 1842, but floods of 1847 and 1884 weakened the structure and it was rebuilt m 1884 by John and Alex Milligan. Floodline marks of both floods were made on the bridge by John Milligan.The first bridge was named alter McMullen, the landowner at the time Later Alexander Milligan bought the land and it has been called the Milligan bridge since. The one-span structure is 54 feet two inches long and 11 feet seven inches wide, and has a square portal. It is of the Multiple King Tost truss design and wooden pins aie used in the side braces. It is one of four covered bridges to be eliminated upon the completion of Salt Fork Lake
