Howes, AUS to the rang of major. Howes lives at 5301 Pound street, this village. His promo tion marks one of IT announced by the War Department for Michigan officers.Major Howes, before entering the armed service, was foreign news editor of the Detroit Fr *e Press and had been a news com mentator over radio station WJR. Major and Mrs. Howes have resided in Richmond for several years.Blue Stars Inc.,Seek $3,000 FundLANSING—A drive to supply badly-needed equipment for Selfridge F*eld hospital has been launched by the Department of Michigan, Blue Star Mothers, Inc The drive is aimed at raising $3,000 to purchase supplies needed by the men and women, and their families, at the base.A committee headed by Mrs. Ethel Stitt.
