Negro Killed In Tobacco Field Near Hansell by Another Negro-Wili Battle, a negro about 50 years of age, is held, at the county jail, charged with the murder of Lovett Range. The killing occurred in a' tobacco field near Hansell Tuesday. 1 It seems from best accounts avail-! able that there had been some quarrel between the two, Battle being proprietor of the field restaurant and Range a worker in the field. The shooting was done with a shotgun, the load entering under the arm and causing immediate death.Sheriff Davis was notified of th' killing and in just sixteen minute he had covered the distance to Han seil, which is about fifteen miles and was looking at the dead negro. Mr J. W. Nelms had taken the Range negro into custody, awaiting the coming of the sheriff. The slayer says that the other negro had threatened him with a pistol and that they had quarreled over a woman, who had left Battle and was friendly with the younger man.Don't Likr I*'** .lowing
