PAINTINGS SHOWN 1Works of Negro Artist# DisplayedAt Library Beta.Beginning Monday afternoon ‘and extending through Friday afternoon,there' will be: on display at the new Davis avenue branch library an in* teresting collection of works of negro artists as a part of this traveling art exhibit sponsored by the Harmon foundation with the co-operation of the Art. Center of New York City. The hours dally for this week will be from 2 to 9 o'clockp. m.This exhibit of negro artists, which was assembled for the annual exhibit in New York in February, includes 46 works of varibua types by 28 artists. Interesting portrait studies, landscape portrayals and the popular modernistic creations are included. Among those studies attracting particular attention are “The Snuff Dipper,’’ by Motley; “Laughing Black,” by Allen; “Street in Gagnes,” by William Johnson; “Roll Jordan Roll,” by Malvtn Johnson, and “The Lord Will Provide,” by William E. ScotLThis art exhibit is being made# available by the State Teachers Col- ' lege for negroes- which is now operating for the fifth successive summer a branch summer school fop teachers here at the Dunbar high school. This collection has been an display at Montgomery for tbe past ' two weeks and will be sent to the State College branch summer school at Birmingham for the final week of July after the showing here this week.
