ALL HORSES SUFFERr-- •DEMAND IN SOME i*UABTERS THAT CITY FOUNTAINS BE OP* ENED THAT HORSES MAI SE-CURE DRINK.Tho days have been rather hot to prevent a thirsty horse from securing a drink where they nave been accus-tomed to getting it- Thl* condition grows out of the poor supply of water furnished the city and the action of the cRy board of health to prevent an epidemic of infantile paralysis-The city board is to be commended for the doing away of the dirty cups at the fountains. On tne word of ta» city health - board the city water is pure and wholesome. This being the case no one will be’contaminated who uses an individual drinking cup, and if there are no cups at the fountains no one Is going to get poisoned. No merchant will supply cups to the fountains against the pending aetion of the city board of health. People and horses do not drink out of the same stream of water. People do not drink out of the basin at tho fountains. They never dip up the water to drfnk it. The cuim aie constantly immersed in running water. But for all this the cups can be dispensed with and the horses atlll be supplied with water. Dr. Sammons has full authority to open the fountains If he sees proper. There are many persons who feel they should be openeo for the benefit of the horses.
