IOWA INDIANS ENJOY SHOWS! • •* I • .Red Men of Reservation Are ChronicI - XShow Goer*,, ' .jf- Marshalltown, July 16.—It is seldom that so many Indians from the Iowa Sac'and Fox reservation ever visit the . city at one time, as was the case Tuesday, because of the appearance of the Luella Forepaugii-Fish aggregation. The red men of-the reservation are chronic circus goers, to be sure, and are always, expected on occasions Wacn the blare of the trumpet and the blaze, of .the trappings indicate the presence of a canvas city. Wild West ■shows, with their braves—and what wild west show is.complete without its coterie of red men—are even more of an attraction to the Tama Indians . than Ringling Bros. As “bad” as Lu-: ella's show is,..to use the language. of a , circus-trooper, Buffalo Bill never -played to so many Indians in Marshalltown. They were bedecked in holiday attire 106, wiui full regalia of pamt and feathers,- fancy belts of bead work. German silver • trinkets,. etc. “Jim” Morgan, chief of the Sac and Fox council; wag here in all his glory, withhis breast shield of wampum, .which is never worn except on state occasions. - -It •- Is'5 estimated that there* were at least 200 members of the reservation In the city to witness the- show. They Tanged in age from the picturesque brave, who js too old to even venture a guesa at his age, to the papoose, strapped on his little flat shield, with a string of- bells over his head to'jin* gle and amuse him. General Superintendent Sweeney of the Central, who was in the city Tuesday, said he had visited the Indian territory more or less for the past thirty, years, and never in his life before had he seen so many Indians as he did here. sCAPTURED A BIG FISH.
