After a l’ew hours’ ride the excursionists were permitted to disembarks at the Palisades, where reinforcements, to the number of about thirty,—si select pleasure party from Jtt- Vernon— greeted them. A short time was pleasantly passed away in exploring, and then dinner,—over-welcome din-ner to the ever-hungry excursionist — after which the Wkipponvill carried Mr. Kilborn over to the opposite shore for the purpose of getting views ot the rocka and picnic grounds of the Palisades. Soon the peoplewere scattered here and there. somereclining on mossy banks ’neath jhaded bowers, while others bounded along grassy paths, viewing maas-cov*ered rocks or peeping into miniature caves, or, perchance, listening to nature’s music as made by little streams meandering from crystal springs hid away among the huge rocks in the distance- In some places these rocks rise to a height of one hundred and fifty feet from the water's edge, and are draped with evergreens and graceful vines,, making scenes worthy an artist’s efforts. The place abounds in cool retreats and shaded glens, makingit one of the choicest picnic grounds aceessnble by water.
