localWest Grayson County residents will have phone access to time and temperature information through theGeneral Telephone Company Sherman office, according to Garnet Keithley, Sherman Division managerKeithley said the time and temperature information will foe available to phone customers on Whitesfooro, Collinsville and Gordonville exchanges A universal“time and temperature number of H44 1212 will foeused.Keithley said the service isbeing co-sponsored by Grayson County State Hank and Texoma Savings in ShermanThe service will be available 24 hours per day, seven days per week It willprovide the temperature correct to within one degree at the thermometer on the roof of the phone building, Keithley said Time will foe checked daily with the Naval Observatory for correctness Keithley said the new machine is capable of handling ten phone calls at a time for up to 3.WK) calls per hour The phone company expects an average of 3,000 calls per day with up to 25,000 calls per day during periods of drastic weather changes such as during the winter seasonThe time and temperature number is listed in the phone directory under “Time and Temperature ” in the Sherman exchange.The equipment was installed Friday and began ser vice about 2 p m that day The equipment is manufactured by the Autochron Company of Atlanta, Gawhich manufactures allphone system time and tern perature equipmentTIME AND TEMPERATURE equipment forhandlinq such phone calls was installed late last week by General Telephone Company at their Sherman office Sponsors of the service are Grayson County State Bank (Lloyd Butts, left) and Texoma Savings Association (Lavene Ransom, right).
