Bonaparte man, leader of 133rd band to be warrant officerNotice was received yesterday, by military heads in the city, of the commissioning as Warrant Officer. Band, of George L. Simmons. For some time Mr. Simmons has been music director of the 133rd Regimental Band here. Charles C. Brown, warrant officer for the past several years, resigned several weks ago because of ill health, leaving the vacancy to which Mr.Simmons was commissioned.Mr. Simmons has had many years of army experience, having served on the Mexican border with Fairfield’s old Company ,,M”. He later went to France, where he served during the World war. He has been connected with the local 133rd band for over ten years, both as playing musician and director. He is recognized as an outstanding music-ian-director, which, with his practical army experience, will make him an ideal man for the local position.Charles C. Brown, who has been warrant officer for the past four years, has been very popular with the men of the band, who regret that his physical condition required the relinquishing of the position.Mr. Simmons is an instructor in music, having been a music teacher : m various high schools for several i years. His present home is at Bonaparte.
