The starters and their handicaps were as follows: WilliamRichardson, Steubenville: David Davis, Alikanna, 2}4 minutes: Floyd Yocum, eitv. rain.: Frank Stewart and Howard Salkeld. city, 1*4 min.: George Osbourne, Cadiz, 1*4 min.; Bingham Wasson, Cadiz. 1 min.: Roy Grimes, Cadiz: Paul Thomas. Martin’s Ferry, and Ed Paul, city, 45 seconds; John Daley, Pittsburgh, and James Crossly, Martin’s Ferry, on scratch. The race started at Fourth and Market streets and was over the sevpc mile course to a point on the Wills creek road and return, finishing at Third and Market streets. The riders got away in good shape. Above North street Ed Paul ran over a colored boy and was thrown. At the bridge and at the turn he also tumbled. Richardson was the first man back in 25 minutes, winning the race with ease, also the gold watch and a $35 sideboard offered as a special prize. Floyd Yocum was second man across the tape in 24 min., 35 see., with David Davis third, only half a wheel length behind him, in 25 min., 35 sec. Osborne was the fourth man home in 25 min. Then came Howard Salkeld fifth, time, 25 min., 45 sec. John Daley sixth. 24 min.. 15 sec., and Wasson seventh, 26 min. These three riders were in a bunch at the tape. Wasson ran into the crowd just before he reached the line and received a bad fall, injuring his side. John Daley collided with the crowd at Market street and had his legs, arms and side badly skinned and bruised, Frank Stewart eighth, in 26 min.. 30 sec. Paul Thomas ninth. 26 min. Roy Grimes tenth, 27 min'. Thomas beat Grimes at the tape by only a few inches. Ed Paul finished eleventh. 26 min., 45 sec., and James Crossly twelfth, 2t mm., 4o sec.Frank Daley, the Pittsburgh racing man, won the time prize, a pair of tires. The other prizes were: First. Goldwatch: second, pair of tires: third, bicycle saddle; fourth, racing saddle: fifth, automatic pump; sixth, cycle cape, seventh, pair of bicycle shoes: eighth, bicycle pump.
