Gen A S Daggett with daughters Mary and Helen are passing the Bum mer hereFrank Kellogg, son of the late Rev Elijah Kellogg, and family of MelroBe, Mass, are passing their vacation at North Qarpswell at the old homestead.W O Pearson of Topsham and family are occupying William Randall’s cottage at the Center.The beauties of Case 3 Bay at this season of the year have never half been told. Every da brings its qaota of tourists to the leading houses and cottages It is interesting to note the drifc of the tourists from one island to another in succeeding years, one year the preference seeming to be given to one island and the next year the early business aeemB to Btart at another island more readily In the end, however, the business seems to adjust itself so that every island in the bay has received a proportionate share of tourists and a noticeable advance in numbers is each yesr.noted. Although practically no effort is being made by any of the large transportation lines, rail or water, to boom Oasco Bay the steady and persistent advertising done by individuals is having a wide felt effect and even the smaller boarding houses who do no advertising are reaping benefits each year from the publicity given to the bay as a whole by the up to date and far seeing business men and women of the leading resort here. It is noticeable that Harpswell, Chebeague, Oliff, Orr’a and Bailey Island are growing in favor yearly with the better class of tourists.SOUTH HARPSWELLThe glorious Fourth has come and gone once again and a more beautiful day could not oe imagined. Early in the morning a large number went to Peak’s Island or to Merrymeeting Park to attend the celebration. The steamers on their return from Portland were crowded with pleasure seekers. The Merrlconeag House had the pleasure of entertaining one of the largest crowds of the season, the rooms having all been taken besides having fifty transients to dinner.The dining hall was a credit to thiB popular house. The deooratlona consisted of American flags, Japanese lanterns and a groat many flowers were scattered throughout the room.The people expressed the opinion that to look at the room in all its splendor gave them an appetite. The menu was all that could be expected. The waitresses were dressed in white. The proprietor, Col G W Oampbell,Jr, has also opened the Ocean View House where many tourists drove to enjoy the beautiful scenery from this hotel that is situated at the highest point In South Harpswell and near the famous Auburn colony.Baron Kentaro K Kaneko of Tokia, Japan, a distinguished member of the Japanese House of Peers with his secretaries J Suguki and T Sakai with friends, Mrs J A Goddard of Marshel!-town, N 8, and Miss Ripley of New London, N H, are passing this month
