All ear citizens who were present, speak in glowing terms of the treatment they received at the hands ( of the Ilaytoners and hope that the day is not far distant when they can leiutn'cen the compliment.Another delegation of our citizens which loaded six or seven teams, atten ded tbe Calainet Village celebration which was largely attended from the surrounding country, An excellent band was iu attendance and under the ©rdeisj^e •f Marshal O D. Fowler, of Brother-; rec) town, a procession vras formed and marched to a pleasant grove, a short distance from the village, wbeio the Declaration gagof Independence was read in a solemn and . an£l* , !dignified manner by Mr. White, of Calumet. An extemporaneous address was♦delivered by Mr. Hobart, of this village,which was listened to with attention and loudly applaustd by an appreciative au dienee At the close of Ms remarks Mr, Hobart, in behalf of the citizens of cJbil-ton, cordially invited the company to attend a celebration at Chilton, on the 4th of July, 1861. The scene was occassion-ally enlivened by some national airs,which were well executed by the band, as also was tome excellent Binging by the Calumet County Musical Association. In ilia evening there was a large display ol ftreworks, and dancing was kept up un til daylight. Mr. Stage, the gentlemanly landlord of tbe Calumet lloute, out did himself on this occasion, and his numerous guests, we are certain, were satisfied with tbe arrangements made for their comfort and enjoyment, A laTge portion of the Cbiltou delegation desires us to return thanks to John C. Hayes,Esq.,-— who was the principal pet son in getting up the celebraiion, and did all in his power to make it pleasant to all— for his kind hospitality on ibis occasion.
