Model T Fords are much in demand these days and there's an interesting story about the 1923 pickup owned by Joe Clark and A. R, Stambaugh,The Model T belonged to Mike West, who died in 1936, and it wus inherited by his son, George West, The vehicle was stored for many years until it was brought to town a few months ago and Stambaugh set to work putting itin running order. When Clark and Stambaugh sought to buy the Model T, Vic Hail in the tax collector’s office inquired about title papers. There were none, so George West had to make an affidavit swearing that he owned the Ford prior to Oct.1, 1939, when the state’s title law went into effect. Prior to that date a bill of sale was the only legal document required in transferring a motor vehicle.A photograph of the Model T|c wa# sont along to Austin withWest’s affidavit and the transfer of title was approved. Not many transfers of that kindoccur in Brewster County, says Vic* * *
