THE DECATUR REVIEWThe “Pageant of the Waters” written by W. F. Hardy and staged by loeal people at the Lake Decatur Celebration Thursday afternoon and night, was one of the biggest pivie efforts ever presented ifi Decatur, It was most successfully carried out.The pageant was a worth while, notable event. It was a departure for Decatur.It took work on the part of Miss Eliza Thomas, director; Miss Hannah Gevirtz, who directed the dances; Mrs. Ban Mack-net, who looked after costumes; and fi. D. Rainey, who scoured the town for properties; and those who participated. When it was all assembled, the presentation was one that will not be forgotten soon. It is something that the scores of characters can be satisfied in having had a chance to help present.The work of those named and of the author in writing thepageant made it an all Decatur production, original and unique so far as previous attempts in Decatur go,, and worked out with the greatest credit to all who had part in it.. There were symbolic scenes of beauty, dainty dances, stirring episodes in the Jife of Lincoln that called for acting on the part of all the characters. The cdstumes and stage settings were entirely adequate and with the lighting effects, and ourown Lake Decatur as a background a truly notable event was enacted. • • ,In its success the Decatur chorus, which has been developed under D. M. Swarthout, had a part. The pageant may have been a greater development of that enthusiasm, inspiration and team work that made the chorus the success it has been. I he pageant is a new achievement, greater, more original, m^e notable than anything done before by our people a success m which we can all take great pride.• Those who failed to see the pageant or become interested in it have lost much. Injured In a fireworks explosion Wednesday afternoon at Nelson Park was discharged from the Decatur and Macon County hospital Thursday. Although the wound in 3Ms jaw requires frequent dressings, he was able to‘be at his office Friday.Lutz Krigbutn, Injured In. the same accident was out Wednesday night.
