The Charter Oak Band.The music for the Fairfield Fourth of July celebration was furnished prin-ago and its members, with one or two exceptions, are all employed at the Turney Charter Oak Wagon Works, and hence the name. Jones is f the director of the band and during ex the past year everyone of the twenty- CO! two members has done hard and faith* ^ 11 ful work, meeting every Tuesday and ■ I Friday night of each week, when w® ' several hours were spent in practice.Recently, and especially after they ' were engaged for the Fourth, the i meetings were of even more frequent occurrence. The band headquarters is I ! over Mr. McKain’s restaurant in “Newi Chicago.” I, I There is much hard work in connec* I I tion with a band in any country town, I — -1 and especially has it been so with the ; I Charter Oak Band, as at the time ofi the organization very few of the mem*- bers played by note.
