Children in grades one through four are required to read 15 books during the summer, while those in grades five through eight must read 25 books to receive a certificate award for special achievement. The children progress at their own pace.Although the program has already begun, children can still enter by signing up at the main desk in the library. The staff will help in book selection according to the student’s interests and reading ability.Mrs. Virginia Panici, children’s librarian, has planned special activities for the summer months including two story hours—one on Wednesdays from 1 to 2 p.m. for pre-schoolers and one for Thursdays from 1 to 2 p.m. for grades one through four. For members of the Reading club, a film festival will be held September 7.
