INTERESTING OLD CULLMANGERMAN PAPERS FOUNDMrs. Margaret Zeigler has in her possession some very interesting old newspapers, printed in German, These papers were published by Co. Kull-man and his sons. The paper was call- • ed “The North Alabama Colonist.One edition is bordered in black i and contains the picture of Otto Kull-man, who had just died at the age of 29 in 1885, of fever. He had come j to this country from Germany to help his father to bring colonists to this country, the paper stated.The brother, Theodore, had died in 1873 in Cincinnati. He was also herefor the purpose of assisting his father.The paper says that Col. Kullipanwas land commissioner and that theyhad 500,000 acres of land for sale. At the time, the paper was five years of age, having been established in 1880.Ads from very interesting persons appear in the papers, among them is one from Mrs. Ziegler wanting to sell her home and blacksmith shop, as her husband had just died.Others were from Beckert Rheu-lander, accident insurance; John Fromhold, proprietor of the Pioneer hotel; George Merlet, proprietor of the Cullman hotel.The entire paper was printed in German and the whole of the back page was given to a map of the United States, showing railroads, highways, etc.i
