Stage Is Set For Greatest Fourth Celebration HereProgram of Events at Fairgrounds to Start Tomorrow Evening at 6 Oclock—Record Crowd ExpectedThe stage is set for the greatest Fourth of July celebration ever staged in Hagerstown to be held at the Fairgrounds tomorrow’ evening under the auspices of the Boy Scouts.In addition to the most elaborate and brilliant display of fireworks in local history, there will be a demonstration of fire apparatus, a sham battle and concert by the Hagerstown Municipal Rand under the direction of Peter Buys.The program will open promptly at 6 o'clock v’hen Hager*town fire apparatus, including the new Pioneer Hook and Ladder truck, will appear in a demonstration. At 6: JO Company B, under command of Captain McCleary w’ill meet a force commanded by Frank L. Bentz in a sham battle.A half hour concert by the band will be rendered beginning at 7:45 o'clock. This will be followed by the pyrotechnic display. The fireworks will be the finest obtainable including elaborate, numerous and brilliant aerial pieces concluding with the gtand finale.Plans have been made for holding a basket picnic on the grounds and ice cream, soft drinks, etc., will be obtainable. Many families are expected to gather early, to picnic and then watch the attractions. Therewill be plenty of good drinking water available.Automobiles and pedestrians may only enter through the main gate. Adults will be charged 25 cents and children admitted free to the grounds. There will be no charge for the grandstand.The celebration, formerly staged by the Potomac Hills Community Club, has grown in magnitude year by year and has attained such proportions that it was decided to turn it over to the supervision of the Boy Scouts and hold the celebration on the Fairgrounds.It is expected that a monster crowd will be on hand for the events. Those who attend will be amply repaid as the program will appeal to old and young alike. The fireworks of one hundred different spectacles will be by far the most elaborate, colorful and awe-inspiring ever produced in Hagerstown.Almost every conceivable humorous and elaborate feature of aerial illumination has been secured by the committee in charge for the entertainment of the crowds. These will be set off under expert direction and will furnish thrills, entertainment and amusement. The Herald has described irt detail in recent issues the various fireworks features.
